It’s been a few weeks since I exhibited at the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate. I exhibited both ranges of work, the handmade ceramic jewellery and a number of my ceramic vessels. It was an incredibly hectic few days preparing my stand; organising banners, creating leaflets and arranging and re-arranging (and re-arranging!) the display, but it was all worth it. The three days spent in Harrogate were very busy, talking to buyers, gallery owners and interior designers - it was wonderful to be surrounded by such friendly and talented, inspirational makers.
Since the trade fair, a selection of my ceramic vessels have winged their way up to the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff, Scotland for their latest exhibition (these can now be viewed on their webpage http://www.strathearn-gallery.com/artists/326/katy-o-neil ). The Craft Centre and Design Gallery in Leeds will be displaying a range of the jewellery pieces for three months from July, and both the vessels and jewellery are to be included in the ‘Handmade for Christmas’ sale at Museum Sheffield from November to January 2015. There has been lots of other interest and I’ll update you as and when there are further developments.
For those of you live in the Lancashire area, I will be selling my jewellery and vessels at Ceramics at the Mill 2014, Higherford Mill, Gisburn Road, Barrowford. You can visit the event Facebook page for more information here.
This event is a celebration of all things clay as is part of the national Craft and Design Month.
The preview evening is on Friday May 9th 6.30-9.30pm (which will include wine and nibbles) and it continues on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th 10am-5pm - it would be lovely to see you there, and share a chat and a brew.
I'll be spending my time running up to the Ceramics at the Mill event working on new designs for the ceramic vessels and responding to a commission designing and making gentlemen's cufflinks.
As ever it would be lovely to hear from you so feel free to get in touch with any comments about my work, or just for a chat. You can contact me directly here.
