Gallery Deliveries and Newspaper Articles
It’s been a while since I lasted posted so I thought it was time for a catch up. The last few days have been spent getting my ceramic jewellery and pots packaged up and sent off to a variety of galleries.
The first delivery was to an exciting new gallery shop, ‘Fresh from the Studio’, that my business mentor Elizabeth White has opened in Littleborough, just in time for the Tour de France to whizz through on 7 July. Liz is a fine art painter who has been acting as my mentor whilst I have been in the process of setting up my business, getting me through writing business plans and cash flow forecasts (lucky Liz!). So if you are in Littleborough looking for an individual gift then pop in to ‘Fresh from the Studio’, 28 Church Street, right in the centre of town, to see a selection of my jewellery and pots.
The second delivery that is winging its way today is to The Craft Centre and Design Gallery, Leeds, http://www.craftcentreleeds.co.uk. Caroline from the gallery approached me to be part of their summer exhibition after seeing my work at the British Craft Trade Fair back in April. A good selection of my ceramic jewellery will be on display for the next three months as part of their selling exhibition, hopefully lots of Yorkshire folk will be enjoying and wearing it soon.
For those of you who missed it, there was a lovely article in the Bolton News last week about me, my business, my inspiration and how I got to where I am now after choosing to take voluntary redundancy in 2012. In case you want to read it here’s a link (www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/business/11304232.Trip_of_a_lifetime_inspires_craft_designs/). Gerry Halpin, who organises the Bury Art Open Exhibition, read the article and invited me to exhibit a selection of pieces at the exhibition which opens on the 19 July and runs until 26 July in Bury Art Gallery. Today I have been selecting and packaging the pots and jewellery I wish to exhibit and sending all the information through for the catalogue. The open exhibition is part of Bury Arts Festival (www.buryartfestival.co.uk ) and any work that is sold also helps to support Bury Hospice - oh and there’s a People’s Choice Award, so if you are in Bury then pop in to the Art Gallery and vote for me!
